When people apply, I commonly get an email right afterward from the applicant saying that the link to confirm email does not work. How can we change this (we are an approval-based forum and it often takes hours to a day or 2 to approve an applicant)
Howdy @MrsT, after considering this a while I think I understand what's happening.
The confirmation email is probably working as expected, but the users are expecting immediate access after confirming their email. They don't realize it requires secondary approval from an administrator.
This is a confusing point with our notification emails, and has come up with another client. I'm going to investigate creating a better email message for this situation so that new members understand the process.
I'll let you know once we're able to deploy that change. In the meantime, you can reassure members that their application is being reviewed and they'll get a notification once it's been approved.
Hi @MrsT, as a followup the following text will be used after the next update to our system:
"Thank you for applying to [FORUM NAME]. Your account is pending approval. In the meantime, confirm your email address by clicking on the following link: [LINK]"
